Famous Memoirs

I was shopping through Barnes & Nobles the other day and came across an entire table of nothing but memoirs and biographies. Of course I’m a sucker for reading stories of others.  There’s something about reading or even hearing a story and finding there is someone who has experienced what you have. You feel an instant connection and that you can relate. You can feel validated, inspired or learn something new. Everyone has a story and every single person on this planet matters.

I’ll never forget the first biography I read where I really related and found it so helpful. Dare I share?! Okay, it was Kathy Lee Gifford’s, I Can’t Believe I Said That. You have to understand she was very popular at the time with her rise on Regis & Kathy Lee (for those younger audiences yes there was someone before Kelly), which made her a household name. Kathy Lee grew up in a very strong Christian family and she was married to a Christian musician so when her marriage began to fail, she felt she was disobeying her religion. I was going through almost the exact same thing at the time so to read this book was of great comfort to me to know that I wasn’t alone.

As I go through the journey of developing Sheic Journals, I find myself drawn to any business biography I can get my hands on. One such book is by Wes Moss, Starting from Scratch: Secrets from 22 Ordinary People Who Made the Entrepreneurial Leap. This is a really great book filled with inspiration and practical advice. I highly recommend it.

Okay I shared a somewhat embarrassing biography confession with you. I’d love to hear what are your favorite biographies or memoirs. Be sure to share below. And if anyone wants to admit to reading Kathie Lee’s book with me, I’d love to know I’m not alone.
